We are working with a well-established and rapidly expanding environmental consultancy and contractor that has secured a major two-year habitat relocation project as part of one of the largest industrial redevelopment schemes in the region for a generation. Due to continued growth, our client is looking to appoint three Consultant-level Terrestrial Ecologists to join the project team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a landmark environmental programme involving habitat relocation, habitat creation, major earthworks, and associated civil engineering works across multiple sites. Working alongside experienced ecologists, environmental specialists, and construction teams, you will play a key role in ensuring ecological compliance throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities * Undertake protected species surveys, monitoring, and ecological supervision. * Provide Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) support during construction activities. * Deliver habitat relocation and habitat creation works in line with project requirements. * Advise site teams and contractors on ecological constraints and mitigation measures. * Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, licence conditions, and planning requirements. * Record and report ecological data, producing accurate site records and technical information. * Work collaboratively with project managers, environmental supervisors, and construction teams across multiple sites. Candidate Requirements * Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. * Approximately 3–5 years' relevant professional experience in terrestrial ecology. * Experience delivering ecological surveys and construction support on infrastructure or environmental projects. * Natural England WML-CL08 Level 1 Class Licence for Great Crested Newt surveys. * Natural England WML-CL17 Class Licence to disturb bats. * Experience as an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW). * Good working knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and ecological best practice. * Strong IT skills, including experience using GIS software. * Excellent communication and report-writing skills. * Full UK driving licence. Desirable Qualifications & Experience * Emergency First Aid qualification. * Membership of CIEEM, CIWEM, or an equivalent professional body. * Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, environmental, or civil engineering projects.
