Theatre Support Worker

Location: KIMS Hospital, Maidstone

Contract: Permanent 37.5 Hours Per Week

Salary: £24,784.50 per annum

As a Theatre Support Worker, you’ll play an essential role in preparing operating theatres, ensuring the theatre and recovery areas are maintained to the highest standards, escorting and assisting patients, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. Every day, you’ll have the opportunity to improve the patient experience and contribute to their recovery.

You'll work 4 days per week (Monday to Saturday, 07:30 – 18:00), with 1 Saturday per month, offering a great work-life balance.

Main duties of the job

As a Theatre Support Worker, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and cleaning theatre and recovery areas before and after surgeries, ensuring adherence to cleaning schedules.

  • Stocking and maintaining stock levels in cupboards and containers.

  • Assisting with patient collection and escorting, as well as helping transfer patients from trolleys to tables under supervision.

  • Supporting the safe positioning of patients on the operating table.

  • Acting as the circulating person for the scrub team, within your scope of responsibilities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A good standard of general education including English and Maths GCSE grade 4 and above (or equivalent).

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or Care Certificate.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience working in Operating Theatres or a Decontamination Unit.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable

  • Experience as a Theatre Support Worker.
