An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Therapy Team as a dedicated Therapy Assistant, supporting patients across the Inpatient Unit (IPU), Wellbeing Centre, and within the community.

Main duties of the job

Therapy Assistant role involves:

  • Providing graded therapeutic intervention for individual patients to maintain or improve function.
  • To undertake assessments and treatments for patients that have been screened by a therapist.
  • Develop rapport with patients and encourage participation in a manner which promotes dignity, self-esteem, and choice.

Job responsibilities

About You:

Are you an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated individual who enjoys a varied workload? Would you find it rewarding to to help people maintain independence, function and wellbeing?

This dynamic and rewarding role offers the opportunity to work alongside Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and the wider Wellbeing Team to deliver high-quality palliative rehabilitative care.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of therapeutic interventions, contributing to service development, and ensuring patients receive holistic, person-centred care across a variety of settings.

This post is offered on a full time, permanent basis, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Please note, the successful candidate will be an essential car user, therefore candidates must have a full driving licence.

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of meeting the care needs of an individual.
  • Awareness of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy role
  • Awareness of confidentiality
  • Awareness of Health and Safety
  • Able to establish rapport with staff, patients, Relatives, and carers
  • Good listening skills
  • Able to carry out instructions and delegated work
  • Able to work alone and as part of a team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient IT skills including Microsoft

Desirable

  • Experience of working with family and carers
  • Experience of working in a Health Care Setting
  • Experience of working within a Therapy Team
  • Experience of working in the NHS/Care Service.
  • Experience of working in Palliative Care
  • Knowledge of Therapy equipment provision to assist daily activities

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Valid driving licence
  • Some experience or a qualification in a health or social care setting

Desirable

  • BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in health or therapeutic care or willingness to work towards
  • Access to a vehicle

Attitude and Behaviours

Essential

  • Demonstrate empathy for patients needs regarding privacy, dignity and cultural beliefs
  • Willing to undertake internal and external training specific to the role
  • Demonstrates commitment to St Catherines vison and values
