Transfer Station Manager - Hazardous Waste / Processing Facility Location: Astley Salary: Competitive (DOE) Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week The Opportunity We are recruiting for an experienced Transfer Station Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy waste processing and transfer facility. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong background in hazardous waste, recycling, or industrial plant environments. You will be responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient site operations, while leading and developing a small team. What's on Offer 25 days holiday + bank holidays Pension scheme Healthcare cashback plan Employee discount platform Life assurance Cycle to work scheme Ongoing training and development Supportive and stable working environment Key Responsibilities Managing daily site operations, including receipt, storage, processing, and dispatch of waste materials Ensuring full compliance with environmental permits and hazardous waste regulations Overseeing plant, equipment, and site infrastructure to maintain performance and reliability Monitoring stock levels, site throughput, and waste streams Leading, motivating, and developing site staff Driving high standards of health & safety, including audits, risk assessments, and procedures Coordinating maintenance activities and managing contractors on site Maintaining accurate records, documentation, and compliance reporting Requirements WAMITAB / CIWM qualification - ESSENTIAL (candidates without this will not be considered) Previous supervisory or management experience within a regulated environment Background in hazardous waste, waste oil, recycling, chemical processing, or similar Strong knowledge of environmental and waste compliance regulations Full UK Driving Licence Desirable NEBOSH or IOSH Experience working with industrial plant or liquid processing systems Forklift licence Degree-level education (Chemistry or similar advantageous) This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation operating within the environmental and sustainability sector, where you can make a real impact while progressing your career.
