Transport Operator Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme Salary: Circa £28,000 Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Monday-Friday (Rotating Early & Late Shifts) Join a Busy Transport Operation We're looking for a proactive Transport Operator to join a growing logistics business supporting a major national retail contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with transport or logistics experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, communicating with drivers and ensuring transport operations run smoothly. Previous transport experience would be advantageous, however attitude, organisation and a willingness to learn are equally important. Key Responsibilities * Support the day-to-day running of the transport operation. * Act as the first point of contact for drivers. * Liaise with customers, warehouses and subcontractors. * Monitor vehicle movements and respond to operational issues. * Maintain transport documentation and operational records. * Assist with driver communication and vehicle scheduling. * Support transport planners with daily operational requirements. * Ensure excellent customer service at all times. What We're Looking For Essential * Excellent communication skills. * Strong organisational skills. * Good IT skills including Microsoft Office. * Ability to prioritise workloads. * Positive and proactive attitude. * Ability to work well under pressure. Desirable * Previous transport or logistics experience. * Knowledge of transport operations. * Experience using Transport Management Systems. Working Hours * Monday-Friday rotating shifts between 06:00 and 18:00. * Based on any 5 days from 7 during peak periods. * Weekend overtime available when required. * Participation in an on-call rota (January-September)
