Location: Civil Centre, Windmillhill Street, Motherwell, ML1 1AB

Salary: £47,484 – £52,252 per year

Contract type: Permanent | Position type: Full Time | Hours: 35 per week | Hybrid Work

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development and delivery of the Council’s Local Transport Strategy and Active Travel Strategy.
• Work closely with key project partners (Glasgow City Region, SPT, Walk, Wheel, Cycle Trust, Transport Scotland) to devise capital programmes aligned with the Plan for North Lanarkshire.
• Prepare and submit funding applications to external agencies.
• Support transportation planning to minimise the impact of development and improve public transport and active travel.
• Prepare reports and present information in public forums.
• Travel throughout North Lanarkshire and occasionally to the Glasgow City Region for duties.

Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Significant knowledge and experience in transportation planning, active travel and public transport scheme development.
• Experience in collaborative partnership working with key partners such as Glasgow City Region, SPT and Walk, Wheel, Cycle Trust.
• Strong business and customer focus, with a demonstrable record of identifying opportunities, achieving outcomes and managing change.
• Self‑motivated, flexible, collaborative, able to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple changing demands.
• Good understanding of transportation policy, legislation and initiatives at local, regional and national levels.
• Excellent organisational and IT skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with analytical and reporting skills.
