An exciting opportunity has arisen for a kind, capable Veterinary Surgeon to join a growing, independent practice in North Yorkshire.

Applying for this role is straight forward Scroll down and click on Apply to be considered for this position.

This is a practice that is deliberately doing things differently.

The team is made up of experienced veterinary professionals who have collectively spent years working across charities, corporate practices, referral hospitals and other areas of the profession. Having seen both the best and the more challenging sides of modern veterinary practice, they decided to create something that reflects the kind of practice they believe veterinary medicine should be.

At its heart, the practice is built around excellent clinical care, fair and accessible pricing, and a genuinely supportive working environment.

A practice where vets can do good medicine

The team believes that good veterinary care should be available to as many people as possible, regardless of their financial circumstances.

The practice therefore takes a different approach to pricing, including subsidised consultations and a commitment to keeping advanced diagnostics and treatments as accessible as possible.

The successful Veterinary Surgeon will have some experience and will be encouraged to develop any interests further.

The practice has invested in a range of equipment and facilities to allow the team to undertake interesting and varied cases, including:

-Orthopaedic Kit

-Laparoscopy

-Rigid and flexible endoscopy

-Echocardiography

-Advanced abdominal ultrasound

-Referral-level diagnostic work-ups

There is also a strong emphasis on clinical development. The practice has certificate holders within the team who are keen to teach, mentor and share their experience, providing genuine opportunities for a vet to develop their skills and work towards their own career goals.

The team:

The practice is small, friendly and down-to-earth, with a culture based on open communication, mutual support and doing the right thing for patients and clients.

The team values people who are happy to ask questions, share knowledge and contribute to the development of the practice. A good sense of humour is also considered highly valuable — veterinary medicine is serious enough without everyone taking themselves too seriously.

The role:

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum, depending on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week over 4 days

Weekend work: Approximately 1 in 3 weekends

Holiday: 5 weeks’ annual leave plus your birthday off

Career development: Training and support tailored to individual career goals

This location offers a great base for someone looking for a role outside the traditional corporate model, with easy access to the wider Teesside area and the North Yorkshire coast and countryside. It provides an appealing combination of urban amenities, affordable living and access to some fantastic outdoor spaces.

The ideal candidate:

The practice is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who is:

-Compassionate and genuinely committed to patient care

-Confident but willing to ask for support when needed

-Team-focused and generous with their knowledge

-Excellent at communicating with clients and building trust

-Interested in developing their clinical skills

-Comfortable working in an independent, growing practice

-Positive and approachable

The practice is not looking for someone who already knows everything. It is looking for someone who is keen to learn, willing to contribute and excited by the opportunity to help shape an independent practice from the ground up.

For a Veterinary Surgeon who is looking for more than simply another job.
