Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal
Find your future with Victoria Vets
At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.
Victoria Vets are looking for an experienced and confident Veterinary Surgeon to join our busy, supportive team across our Dowlais and Aberdare practices. With a varied caseload, regular surgery days and exposure to orthopaedic procedures, this is a role where you can get stuck into interesting clinical work, take ownership of your cases and continue developing your skills.
What you’ll be stepping into
We are a busy, community-focused, multi-site practice with locations in Dowlais and Aberdare. Both practices are situated in the South Wales valleys, with easy access to Cardiff, while our Dowlais site is close to the beautiful Brecon Beacons. Working across both sites gives you exposure to a varied caseload and the opportunity to work alongside a large, experienced clinical team. With a share of surgery days, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to build on your surgical skills and get involved with a diverse range of cases.
Our facilities are well equipped to support both routine and more advanced clinical work, including:
- Dedicated laboratory for in-house testing
- Dental suite
- Two theatres
- Separate dog and cat kennels
- Large preparation area
- Isolation ward
- Ultrasound machine with cardiac probe
- Digital radiography
This is a full-time role offering 40 hours per week over 4 days, with 10-hour shifts from 8am–6pm, working across our Dowlais and Aberdare sites. You’ll have a share of dedicated surgery days, with a busy and varied surgical caseload and exposure to orthopaedic procedures. Best of all, there’s no OOH, weekend or bank holiday work, giving you a great work-life balance alongside an interesting and varied clinical role.
Our Experienced Team
You’ll be joining a well-established and supportive team of over 20 people, including 7 Vets, 7 RVNs, 1 ACA, a dedicated support team of 7 and our Director of Practice. Our Clinical Director holds a postgraduate certificate in Small Animal Surgery and carries out orthopaedic procedures, giving the team access to valuable surgical experience and knowledge within the practice. The wider team brings a wealth of experience across a busy small animal caseload, creating a great environment to share knowledge, learn from one another and continue developing clinically.
Life in Dowlais & South Wales
