Contract to start ASAP
Duration: 8 weeks with a possible extension.
Job Purpose
To lead and supervise a waste collection crew in the safe, efficient and timely delivery of refuse, recycling and waste management services across the borough.
The post holder will be responsible for driving allocated waste collection vehicles, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and providing day-to-day support and leadership to crew members.
Responsibilities
Drive and operate refuse collection vehicles and other allocated fleet vehicles in accordance with all road traffic legislation, council procedures and health and safety requirements
Lead and supervise a team of waste operatives during daily collection rounds
Ensure domestic, commercial, recycling and bulky waste collections are completed efficiently and on schedule
Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report any defects, faults or maintenance issues promptly
Ensure that all vehicle checks, route documentation and collection records are completed accurately
Monitor crew attendance, performance and conduct while promoting high standards of customer service
Ensure all waste is handled, collected and disposed of in line with environmental regulations and council policies
Assist with route planning and ensure that collection rounds are completed within agreed timeframes
Valid HGV driving licence
