Main duties of the job

The role of Wellbeing and Activities Assistant at Avery Healthcare involves supporting the Wellbeing Coordinator in delivering a variety of activities designed to engage and stimulate residents' physical, cognitive, and social well-being. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe environment, reporting changes in residents' conditions, preparing for upcoming activities, and building links with the local community. Ideal candidates should embody values of caring, support, honesty, respect, and accountability, have effective communication skills, and understand the importance of interaction in well-being. Prior experience working in a residential nursing Dementia setting with older people is required.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Wellbeing and Activities Assistant, your focus will be tosupportthe Wellbeing Coordinator in providing a wide range of activities to engage and stimulate the resident's physical, cognitive, and social well-being.

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

  • Maintaininga safe living and working environment,contributing to the positive and professional image of thehome.
  • Reporting any changes in residents physical or emotional condition to the Wellbeing and Activity Coordinator, Home Manager, and the care staff.
  • Supporting with ordering and preparing supplies for upcoming activities as directed.
  • Supporting establishing links with the local community (e.g., schools, spiritual groups, museums/libraries) to encourage access to the wider community and promote intergenerational activity.

Essential

  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written, understanding of the role of interaction in enhancing well-being, positive attitude towards older people, prior experience in a residential nursing Dementia setting.
