Automotive Workshop Manager for Heathrow Airport Location: Heathrow Airport, London £55,000-£70,000 depending on experience Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Automotive Workshop Manager: About the Role We are seeking an experienced Automotive Workshop Manager to lead our Ground Support Equipment (GSE) maintenance operation at Heathrow Airport. This role is ideally suited to a Workshop Manager with experience in automotive, HGV, commercial vehicle, fleet, plant, or heavy equipment maintenance environments. You will be responsible for managing workshop operations, leading a team of technicians, ensuring fleet availability, and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. Automotive Workshop Manager Key Responsibilities * Manage the day-to-day operation of a busy engineering workshop. * Lead, motivate, and develop a team of technicians and engineers. * Oversee maintenance, servicing, inspections, and repairs of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and associated vehicles. * Ensure maximum fleet availability while minimising downtime. * Plan and allocate workshop resources effectively. * Monitor workshop performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives. * Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures, health and safety requirements, and industry regulations. * Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation. * Work closely with operational teams to support business requirements. * Promote a positive safety culture and high standards of workmanship throughout the workshop. Automotive Workshop Manager Essential Requirements * Proven experience as a Workshop Manager, Fleet Maintenance Manager, Engineering Supervisor, Service Manager, or similar leadership role. * Strong background in automotive, commercial vehicle, HGV, plant, fleet, or engineering maintenance environments. * Experience managing and developing workshop teams. * Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills. * Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment. * City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent engineering qualification. * Full UK Driving Licence (maximum 3 penalty points). Automotive Workshop Manager Desirable Skills & Experience * Experience working with diesel and electric vehicles. * Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and welding. * Experience within airport, aviation, logistics, fleet, transport, or heavy equipment operations. * Understanding of workshop KPIs, fleet maintenance planning, and asset management.
