Workshop Technician Location: London, SE1 Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time Salary: Competitive (DOE) The Opportunity We are recruiting for an experienced R&D Workshop Technician to join an innovative manufacturing business specialising in the design and development of market-leading products. This is a hands-on workshop role where you'll be responsible for producing prototypes, components and assemblies to support the development of new products. Working closely with the Design and Engineering teams, you'll play a key role in bringing concepts to life by manufacturing functional prototypes and developing practical engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities Manufacture prototypes, components and assemblies from engineering drawings and concepts. Produce tools, jigs and fixtures to support prototype manufacture. Work closely with Design and Engineering teams to develop practical solutions. Create 3D CAD models and technical drawings. Generate CNC toolpaths using CAM software. Set up, programme and operate 3-axis CNC milling machines. Operate manual lathes and milling machines to produce precision components. Commission prototype parts and liaise with overseas suppliers where required. Maintain workshop equipment, tooling and consumable stock. Ensure the workshop remains safe, organised and compliant with Health & Safety procedures. Support continuous improvement and product development activities. What We're Looking For Minimum 3 years' experience in a workshop, machining or prototype manufacturing environment. Level 3 Engineering Technician, Machining Technician or equivalent experience. Experience using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks desirable). Experience using CAM software to generate CNC programmes would be beneficial. Strong CNC machining experience, including 3-axis CNC mills would be beneficial. Manual machining experience using lathes and milling machines. Good knowledge of machining a range of materials including steel, aluminium, plastics and wood. Competent using workshop machinery and hand tools. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Teams
