Zest4Talent is partnering with an established multidisciplinary building-services and sustainability consultancy to recruit a Junior Embodied Carbon Consultant for its Glasgow team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career sustainability professional who wants to specialise in embodied carbon, Whole Life Carbon Assessment and Life Cycle Assessment within the built environment.
You will work alongside experienced sustainability specialists on a varied portfolio of projects, helping clients understand and reduce the carbon impact of buildings throughout their lifecycle.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the delivery of Whole Life Carbon Assessments and Life Cycle Assessments.
- Calculating the embodied carbon associated with building materials, construction processes and building-services systems.
- Gathering, reviewing and interpreting project data.
- Using carbon-assessment software, databases and Environmental Product Declarations.
- Comparing materials and design options to identify carbon-reduction opportunities.
- Producing clear technical reports, calculations and presentations.
- Supporting the preparation of circular-economy and sustainability statements.
- Working collaboratively with architects, engineers, contractors and wider design teams.
- Keeping up to date with relevant industry standards, planning policies and carbon guidance.
About You
We would like to hear from candidates who have:
- A relevant degree in sustainability, environmental engineering, building services, architecture, construction, quantity surveying or a related discipline.
- An understanding of embodied carbon, WLCA or LCA principles.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Confidence working with data and spreadsheets.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- An organised and methodical approach.
- A genuine interest in reducing the environmental impact of the built environment.
Experience using One Click LCA or similar carbon-assessment software would be beneficial, but applications are also welcomed from candidates with relevant academic knowledge who are keen to develop their practical experience.
