Job summary

Loughton Health centre are looking for a Salaried GP to join our existing friendly team for 4 sessions per week.

We have a practice list size of around 10,100 patients and are centrally located in Loughton Essex.

We have a long standing clinical team and an experienced non clinical support team

Main duties of the job

To provide high-quality, patient-centred primary medical care to the practice population.

To conduct face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations as appropriate.

Maintain accurate, contemporaneous, and complete clinical records.

Process and action clinical correspondence, pathology results, and other administrative tasks in a timely manner.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centred primary medical care to the practice population.
  • Conduct face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations as appropriate.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with current guidelines and best practice.
  • Order, interpret, and act upon investigations and test results.
  • Refer patients to secondary care and other healthcare services when clinically indicated.
  • Undertake home visits when required.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous, and complete clinical records.
  • Process and action clinical correspondence, pathology results, and other administrative tasks in a timely manner.
  • Participate in health promotion, disease prevention, and screening programmes.
  • Contribute to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in accordance with local and national policies.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including nurses, pharmacists, physician associates, and administrative staff.
  • Participate in practice meetings, clinical governance activities, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support the training and supervision of students, trainees, and other healthcare professionals where appropriate.
  • Maintain professional registration, appraisal requirements, and continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Comply with all relevant legislation, professional standards, and practice policies, including confidentiality, information governance, and health and safety requirements.
  • Person specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • MBBS, MBChB or equivalent primary medical qualification.
    • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a current licence to practise.
    • Inclusion on the GMC GP Register.
    • Evidence of completion of GP Specialty Training (CCT) or equivalent qualification recognised for UK General Practice.
    • Included on the relevant NHS Performers List.
    • Valid indemnity cover in line with NHS requirements.
    • Up-to-date mandatory training, including safeguarding and basic life support.

    Desirable

    • Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP).
    • Additional qualifications or diplomas relevant to General Practice (e.g. Women's Health, Child Health, Dermatology, Diabetes, Minor Surgery, Palliative Care, Mental Health).
    • Experience as a GP in NHS primary care.
    • Training or qualifications in teaching, mentoring, or supervision.
    • Evidence of audit, quality improvement, research, or leadership activity.
