Job summary

We are looking for talented and ambitious band 7 Radiographers to support the expansion of our imaging departments and the introduction of additional imaging capacity across our modalities.

The Band 7 Radiographers undertake a varied role working within all of the Trust's Hospitals. You will already have highly developed skills and expertise in a wide range of modalities including CT, Interventional Radiography, Paediatric Imaging, Fluoroscopy, Emergency Department and General Imaging.

As a Band 7 Radiographer you will also need to be able to manage and lead an area of the Radiology Department in the absence of the Superintendent Radiographer. You will enhance your skills in all modalities whilst also gaining valuable experience in leadership and supervision.

The radiology department runs a 24/7 service and operates an out of hours system wherein radiographers are contracted to work out of hours shifts at night, on weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

Professional/ Statutory Registration

Essential

  • State Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council UK.
Qualifications/ Education

Essential

  • BSc Hons in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Evidence of post graduate study
Previous experience

Essential

  • Applies and effectively utilises professional and technological knowledge across a broad range of themes associated with role to support and enhance the patient care pathway - using specialist knowledge gained from training, courses and or experience including Master's level or equivalent.
  • Experience in a broad range of imaging modalities - to include Emergency Department imaging (including out of hours), Fluoroscopy and Operating Theatre environments.
  • Experience and ability to supervise, mentor and support junior staff and students.
  • Experience in leadership, co-ordinating theatres and mobiles or deputising in the absence of a superintendent.

Desirable

  • Recent clinical experience at senior Radiographer level in an acute healthcare setting.
  • Clinical audit experience and implementation of audit findings / involvement in clinical governance.
  • Experience in clinical evaluation of technology and procurement processes.
Skills/Knowledge/ Ability

Essential

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of delivering potentially complex or sensitive information to patients and can identify and overcome barriers to effective communication.
  • Exemplary professional appearance and approach and effective advocate for patients.
  • Ability to work well with an interdisciplinary team and promote effective working demonstrating strong multidisciplinary team-working skills.
  • Acquire diagnostic images with a high degree of physical skill and accuracy to fulfil the entirety of the patient pathway including positioning for the full range of patient presentations, intravenous cannulation and equipment function with a high degree of precision, considering patient limitations and adapting standard techniques where necessary.
  • Working knowledge of IR(ME)R 2017 & IRR 2017.
  • Able to effectively plan and prioritise patient workload, recognising when to seek support to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
  • Experience operating full range of radiographic equipment including over-couch tubes, mobile Image Intensifiers with monitors and mobile x-ray machines (motorised and non-motorised).
  • Participate and supervise others in the safe use of equipment demonstrating responsibility for specialist and expensive equipment including over-couch tubes, mobile Image Intensifiers with monitors, mobile x-ray machines (motorised and non-motorised) and accessory equipment.

Desirable

  • Contribute to discussion and clinical implementation of department policies and procedures related to role offering proposes changes relative to experience.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership potential / specialist expertise.
