Are you a qualified, experienced and compassionate Dietitian?
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated band 7 Advanced Dietitian who has experience and an interest in working with children and young people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.
This is a part-time role working 30 hours per week, your base will be in Penrith Hospital, North Cumbria and you will work into the CYPS Community Eating Disorders Service (CEDS) are based at Fairfield Centre in the Carleton Clinic, Carlisle.
You will work with children and young people (CYPS) in community settings across multiple sites, specifically working into the CYPS CEDS. CEDS provide treatment for children and young people living in North Cumbria, up until 19 years of age (with referrals accepted until age 18 years), who are struggling with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa or binge eating disorder.
Main duties of the job
You will take a lead role, providing expert dietetic input to prioritise clinical caseload and determine appropriate clinical intervention and management. You will be responsible for management and clinical supervision of dietitians and support workers who work with you in the dietetics service.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team in CEDS providing expertise in nutrition support and dietetics to children, young people and their families, as well as other key health professionals. There are well established links with the NCIC hospital paediatric dietitians and the Specialist Children's Eating Disorder Dietitians at CNTW.
You will receive full support from the Trustwide Dietetic Professional Lead, the Dietetic Team Leads as well as the other Advanced Dietitians working in other specialist areas. We hold regular peer supervision, journal sessions and training sessions to ensure our practice is up to date and supported. Our aim is to create an environment where every member of our team can succeed.
You will also be given the opportunity to work on service development and lead on trust wide projects, for example audit of the nutrition policy, outcome measures and quality improvement.
The team have strong links with local universities, and we take dietetic students from Teesside and Newcastle Universities. All staff have a valuable role and are expected to be actively involved in supporting the learning and development of our dietetic students.

You will join our trust wide Dietetics Service, which has over 30 dietitians, clinical support assistants and a dedicated admin team. We have excellent links to multidisciplinary teams and nutrition and health promotion initiatives across the Trust.

Job responsibilities
You will be required to travel to various sites, parking in our Trust car parks is free. There are hot desking offices available for dietitians to use across the Trust, and we will provide you with the necessary equipment to enable you to work across multiple sites and access electronic notes and dairies as needed.
It is essential you have current and ongoing registration as a dietitian with the HCPC to be considered for this post.

Education and Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in Dietetics or Science/Nutrition Degree plus post-graduate Diploma in Dietetics
- Current valid registration as a Dietitian with the HCPC
- Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses and other relevant CPD to Masters level
Desirable
- Member of the BDA and Mental Health Specialist Group
- BDA: Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Group (PENG) course
- Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable adults training
- Basic Food Hygiene certificate
- Leadership qualification
- CBT training
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Post registration experience in a variety of dietetic specialities
- Knowledge, experience and evidence of working with people with mental health conditions, learning disabilities and those with eating disorders
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience working in and presenting to groups
- Experience in the development of Dietetic services and participation in audit/research
- Experience of providing clinical supervision and mentoring students
Desirable
- A working knowledge of vulnerable adult and child protection issues and the Mental Health Act
- Knowledge of existing national guidance and key standards in eating disorders and current issues relating to nutrition
- Experience of using mindfulness techniques and CBT
- Experience of presenting on Dietetic issues in mental health at a National level
