The opportunity

Strong Recruitment Group is recruiting an Assistant M&E Quantity Surveyor to join our client’s growing commercial team in Kent.

Working alongside an experienced QS, you’ll support the commercial management of mechanical and electrical packages on major residential projects. This is an opportunity to build your M&E knowledge, gain practical experience across the project lifecycle and develop towards a Quantity Surveyor role.

Your responsibilities

• Assist with the commercial management of mechanical and electrical packages, from procurement through to final account.

• Support the preparation of tender enquiries, review subcontractor quotations and help compile comparisons.

• Assist with interim valuations, payment applications and subcontractor payments.

• Help identify, measure and price variations.

• Maintain cost records and support monthly forecasts and commercial reports.

• Review drawings and specifications, and carry out quantity take-offs.

• Attend site visits to assess progress and support accurate valuations.

• Work closely with the commercial team, project managers, suppliers and subcontractors.

• Help maintain accurate subcontract and project documentation.

What we’re looking for

• Some experience in an Assistant or Junior Quantity Surveyor role, ideally within M&E or building services.

• An interest in developing your knowledge of mechanical and electrical packages on residential projects.

• A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, or currently working towards one.

• Good numerical skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

• Strong organisation and communication skills.

• Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

• Availability to work from the Kent office five days per week.

Experience with valuations, procurement, variations or take-offs would be beneficial, alongside exposure to high-rise residential or Design & Build projects.
