Job summary
The post holder will work 5 sessions (2.5 days) within MOSAIC Social CommunicationAssessment Service (SCAS) and 5 sessions (2.5 days) within the MOSAIC Child andAdolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). The post provides an excellentopportunity to gain clinical skills in assessment and intervention, as well as servicedelivery and evaluation. The main duties of the post holder in the SCAS team arecoordination of referrals, liaising with referrers, parents, and other agencies. There areopportunities to contribute to multidisciplinary Autism assessments of children aged 4 -19. As part CAMHS, the post holder's key role will be assisting the CAMHS team indeveloping meaningful outcome monitoring process including gathering outcome dataand supporting the team manager with compiling reports for the commissioning group.There will also be opportunities to support the Clinical Psychologists in deliveringPositive Behaviour Support assessments and interventions for children and youngpeople with challenging behaviour. There will also be opportunities for clinical workalongside other members of the multidisciplinary team
Main duties of the job
The role involves supporting Clinical Psychologists and other multidisciplinary team members in their work. For this role, there is a particular emphasis on diagnostic assessment for young people where there are concerns about social communication and interaction as well as their mental health. In addition to contributing to multidisciplinary autism assessments, the post-holder will be supporting with waiting list oversight, coordination of referrals and evaluation of clinical support.
There will be opportunities for service-related research and audit, as well as the chance to take part in user involvement and quality improvement projects.
The post holder will be involved in coordinating referrals, organising assessment clinics, as well as in assisting the team in their outcome monitoring process including managing databases and compiling reports.
The post holder will also be part of the assessing team delivering and observing behavioral observations such as ADOS.

Qualification/Training/Education
Essential
- A 2.1 or 1st class honours degree in Psychology or equivalent
Desirable
- Further training or qualifications in learning disabilities or mental health
Previous Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with children or adolescents .
- Experience of people with challenging behaviour or complex difficulties
- Ability to form positive working relationships and work effectively as part of a team
Desirable
- Experience or training in the use of ADOS
- Experience in the use of cognitive assessments
- Experience of working children with autistic spectrum disorders and their families
- Experience of working with young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
- Ability to form effective working relationships with people from a range of communities, ethnic groups and professions
- Systematic methodological approach to work, commitment to the field and ambition
- Good communication and interviewing skills.
- Strong written communication skills
- Computer literacy, competence with SPSS and experience of using software programmes to record, analyse and present data effectively
- Knowledge of Positive Behavioural Support approach
- Knowledge of Autism
Desirable
- Knowledge and appreciation of the roles of other CAMHS workers and other professional groups providing medical and therapeutic services in services for children with disabilities.
- Experience of service evaluation or clinical audit .
