Are you passionate about making a positive difference to children’s lives?

New Horizons Primary School are looking for a proactive and committed Behaviour & Support Officer to join our team and help ensure every child feels supported, safe and ready to learn.

Working closely with the SENCo, Behaviour Lead and wider pastoral and safeguarding team, you will provide practical and targeted support to pupils, helping them to overcome barriers to learning, develop positive behaviours and achieve their full potential.

As the Behaviour & Support Officer you will:

  • Provide one-to-one mentoring, informal pastoral support and targeted interventions to help pupils manage their behaviour and engage positively with learning.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance and punctuality and reinforce the school’s positive behaviour and rewards approach.
  • Support pupils during transition times, break and lunchtimes, responding appropriately to individual needs and situations.
  • Work closely with parents and carers, colleagues and relevant external agencies to support pupils’ wellbeing.
  • Support the SENCo, Behaviour Lead and Designated Safeguarding Lead with appropriate pastoral and administrative activities.

About You:

You will be calm, approachable and able to build strong relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries. You will need good communication and organisational skills, sound judgement and the ability to respond sensitively and appropriately.

You will also be comfortable working collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers and external professionals and understand the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding and accurate record keeping.

Previous experience of working with children or young people in an education, pastoral, behaviour, SEND or similar setting would be an advantage. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive school community in a role where you can have a genuine impact on pupils’ experiences of school.
