Class Teacher (Key Stage 2)

To start January 2027 - Full Time - Main/UPR

Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher ready to inspire and nurture the next generation? Someries Junior School is looking for a caring and effective KS2 Class Teacher to join our friendly, well-supported team from September.

At Someries Junior School, our vibrant atmosphere is built on the strong relationships between staff and children, and a shared commitment to helping every child achieve their best. We believe in creating an environment where children and adults alike feel valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.

This is a great opportunity to join our supportive team of staff. We will value your professionalism and appreciate your dedication to your class.

In a survey, 100% of staff agreed that they are proud to be a member of staff at the school and that the school has a culture that encourages calm and orderly conduct and is aspirational for all pupils. Teachers are supported by experienced teaching assistants, an effective pastoral team and a capable admin team.

We require a teacher who is confident to teach across the Key Stage 2 age range.

A chance to flourish and excel

Are you inspired and passionate about junior school education? Are you the one who can inspire our children to do even more than they think they can?

It is our School Vision that:

  •  We work together to become the best versions of ourselves.
  •  As responsible citizens, we create a better future.
  • We look for staff who will model our values of aspiration, kindness, cooperation, respect, responsibility and tolerance.
  • We need a great Key Stage 2 teacher to join the team in our small and friendly junior school to help us make this vision a reality for the children here.

We welcome applications from experienced primary teachers who are looking for a school where they can flourish and further enhance their skills as a valued part of a supportive team.

Our School

We are situated near the Hertfordshire borders on the outskirts of Luton, an area that offers the conveniences of a modern town and the green spaces of the countryside. It is near transport connections by road, rail and air to London, the UK and beyond.

We are a small two-form entry junior school - the smallest in Luton - and so our school has a ‘family feel’ to it. However, we benefit from an expansive site including large playing fields for our children to enjoy. We work in collaboration with our outstanding partner infant school to ensure that children benefit from the Someries experience from Nursery to Year 6.

The school offers:

  • enthusiastic pupils who love learning
  • an ethos of team working and mutual support
  • supportive parents, carers and governors
  • senior leaders that create a culture where all are valued and can thrive
  • a culture that values well-being and collaboration
  • a good record of achievement (above national attainment)

As a teacher at our school you will:

  • be given the freedom to focus on what you are in the job for - teach!
  • use your drive, enthusiasm and commitment to enhance our school further
  • use your initiative, be innovative and play your role in a team
  • have a dedicated PPA afternoon each week alongside the other teacher in your year group
  • be friendly, caring and hardworking, modelling our values in all that you do.
  • If you want to make a real difference in a vibrant, friendly school where staff and children support and challenge each other, we would love to hear from you.

We only recruit teachers who are passionate about making a difference to children’s lives - professionals who are keen to keep on improving. If this is you then we would love to meet you!

To give you a flavour of life at Someries Juniors we welcome you warmly to visit us for a tour with our head teacher, Jason Hunt. To arrange this please contact our office manager Michelle Duffy- on 01582 738810 or [email protected]

For further insight to life at Someries Juniors, please visit our Facebook page or our website at www.someriesjuniorschool.co.uk. We look forward to meeting you!

Please ensure that you give as a referee your current or most recent head teacher.

When completing the application form, please use your own words and not AI (!) - we have recently rejected a number of applicants who submitted answers that used AI.

Closing Date: Thursday 15 October 2026 (midday)

Interview Date: Tuesday 20 October
