Are you passionate about making a difference to children’s lives?
At Filton Avenue, we are determined to combat educational disadvantage and social inequalities, to ensure excellent outcomes for all our children. We only recruit people who want to be part of this important work and are willing to challenge themselves to keep on improving. We expect our staff to follow our values: collaboration, aspiration, respect and endeavour, because we believe that’s what makes this team so special.
You will have to work hard here, but only on things that make a difference: we don’t do meaningless paperwork; we don’t grade lessons or monitor your planning. Instead of marking we give feedback in lessons. We are always trying to find better ways to do our work. This means our working relationships can be relatively relaxed and informal. People love working here; we are warm, welcoming, positive, supportive and outward looking. Our innovative approaches mean teachers from Bristol and beyond come to see our work in practice, so expect to welcome visitors into your classroom.
You will be joining a 3-form entry community school, with an inclusive and multi-cultural ethos based in the diverse Lockleaze and Horfield area of North Bristol. Our community includes pupils and staff from a wide range of different cultures - all are welcome. We work together to foster children who are collaborative, aspirational, respectful and focused on learning, as well as academically successful. As our very recent Ofsted inspection report states, “Pupils love attending this school and arrive brimming with enthusiasm for the day ahead.”
We are looking for a teacher who:
- Is committed to developing their expertise to ensure they are empowering all children to make excellent progress and achieve the highest outcomes possible.
- Demonstrates optimism about children and expects the highest possible standards.
- Nurtures pupils’ emotional wellbeing.
We offer:
- Enhanced CPD, including access to professional networks across the Trust
- Paid induction and training suited to the role
- Confidential access to an Employee Assistance Programme
- Free parking
- Use of the Cycle Scheme
- Paid completion of a DBS check
- Free eye tests (where the employee is desk-based)
- Where eligible, automatic enrolment to the relevant pension scheme
- Honouring of continuous service earned in the Local Authority
Fluency Duty
This role has been identified as falling within the definition of requiring fluency in spoken English. You will be required to speak English with confidence and be able to conduct a conversation and answer questions for extended periods of time.
Safeguarding Statement
Amplify Education is committed to safeguarding children and young people. All post holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance. Our policy and practice is in line with the Department for Education’s ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ most recent Guidance. We ensure that all appropriate measures are applied in relation to everyone who works for the Trust who is likely to be perceived by the children as a safe and trustworthy adult. Safer recruitment practice includes scrutinising applicants, online checks, verifying identity and academic or vocational qualifications, obtaining professional and character references, checking previous employment history and ensuring that a candidate has the health and physical capacity for the job.
