Classroom Assistant Afternoon's

Class-based teaching assistant – afternoons only – WV11

Smile Education is currently recruiting for a class-based teaching assistant to join a primary school in the WV11 area.
This is an afternoon-only opportunity and would suit an experienced teaching assistant looking for regular part-time work within a primary school environment.

The role

Working alongside the class teacher, you will provide valuable classroom support and help pupils engage positively with their learning and development.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the class teacher during afternoon lessons and activities
• Working with individual pupils and small groups where required
• Supporting children with their learning and development
• Providing additional support to pupils with SEN and additional needs
• Helping pupils remain focused and engaged with their work
• Encouraging positive behaviour and good learning habits
• Supporting children's confidence, independence and social development
• Assisting with classroom activities and preparation where required
• Creating a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment
• Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
• Providing encouragement and reassurance to pupils who require additional support
• Helping pupils develop positive relationships with their peers
• Supporting pupils who may need additional guidance with behaviour, attention or emotional regulation

The school is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic teaching assistant who can quickly build positive relationships with pupils and become a valued member of the classroom team.

• Experienced working in a primary school environment
• Confident supporting children within a busy classroom
• Patient, approachable and nurturing
• Able to support pupils with a range of abilities and needs
• Confident working with individuals and small groups
• Proactive and willing to support wherever needed
• Able to follow the direction of the class teacher
• Reliable and professional
• Calm and consistent when supporting behaviour
• Able to build positive relationships with children
• Passionate about supporting children's learning and development

Experience supporting children with SEN would be desirable, although we are also interested in hearing from teaching assistants with strong mainstream classroom experience.
