Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic outpatient HCSW's to join our existing teams within General Outpatients [GOPD] including GRH, CGH and CDC operational sites. We are looking for HCSW's who as well as having good organisational and people skills and possess a variety of nursing skills.

We are a dedicated and supportive team that provides treatment and care to a wide variety of patients. Our departments are busy, unpredictable environments, where we care for patients attending appointments for a host of different specialties including dermatology, Gynaecology, Rheumatology, Urology, Cardiology, Neurology and many more. A new Community Diagnostic Centre [CDC] has also opened where we host further GOPD clinics for our patients.

Our departments are open Monday to Friday 8am- 6pm. The successful candidate[s] will be expected to work fully rotational across our GOPD sites at Gloucester, Cheltenham and the Community Diagnostic Centre in Gloucester Quays. (Hospital transport bus is available between GRH and CGH sites with Park and Ride facilities at Cheltenham).

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the outpatient's clinical team assisting in the delivery of high-quality services under the supervision of qualified staff. To support all staff with day to day running of services undertaken at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation trust.

To work well with people at all levels and effectively as a team member. To undertake link roles which will assist in the smooth running of the department. Ability to provide a variety of nursing and personal care and contribute to a safe and welcoming environment for staff, patients and visitors. To communicate effectively, especially where patient ability to do so maybe compromised and chaperone where required. To contribute towards a forward thinking, compassionate and inclusive workforce that focuses on an engaging team approach.

We are seeking highly compassionate and enthusiastic HCSW's who possess good communication and people skills to help us continue to deliver outstanding care to our patients. We are an experienced team who care deeply about our patients and their hospital experience[s] with us.

The successful candidate[s] will be required to work fully rotational across both sites at Gloucester, Cheltenham and the Community Diagnostic Centre in Gloucester Quays. (Hospital Transport bus is available between GRH and CGH sites with Park & Ride facilities at Cheltenham). We actively encourage and support appropriate staff development within their role[s].

Our departments are open Monday to Friday 8am- 6pm (with occasional late finishes).

Person specification

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Care Certificate
  • Basic IT skills appropriate to role
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, motivated and enthusiastic
  • Good personal and communication skills.
  • GCSE maths and English, Grade C and above
  • Ability to work in busy environment

Desirable

  • Previous experience in OPD area desirable
  • Previous NHS Experience
  • Understanding of care IT systems [Trak, EPR]
  • Ability to work on own initiative at times
