Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate pharmacist seeking to utilise and strengthen their leadership skills. This post-holder will join the existing Clinical Pharmacy Managers in providing leadership and management to the expanding clinical pharmacy team at University Hospitals Tees, to deliver the clinical pharmacy strategy.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist with excellent clinical pharmacy, leadership, and management skills. Experience in a team management role in a hospital setting at a Band 8a level or above is essential (please see the Job description and/or person specification for further details). Excellent teamwork skills are a priority and will contribute to the development of clinical pharmacy services, quality improvement, and innovation within the department, driven by your initiative and enthusiasm. You will also need to be able to work autonomously and effectively contribute to the priorities of the pharmacy leadership team.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for developing and managing the provision of a coordinated and comprehensive clinical pharmacy service for designated Clinical Service Units within the organisation, to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines.
The clinical specialities that the successful candidate will oversee will be negotiated based on the candidate's previous experience and competence. The overall clinical pharmacy service is divided among the team of Clinical Pharmacy Managers.
The post involves managing and supervising the duties of senior and directorate pharmacists, pre and post registration foundation pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure we are compliant with national guidance and recommendations of our auditors.

Job responsibilities
The pharmacy department across University Hospital Tees hosts over 400 staff and provides a stimulating, friendly, and professionally rewarding environment for staff to develop their clinical expertise and professionalism. The successful candidate will be provided with opportunities to grow and strengthen their leadership ability by both mentorship and support from the pharmacy leadership team, as well as opportunities to undertake training and gain relevant qualifications.

Person specification
Qualifcations/Training
Essential
- MPharm or equivalent
- Registered Pharmacist with GPhC
- Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or appropriate equivalent postgraduate qualification
- Pharmacist Independent Prescriber
Desirable
- Other relevant postgraduate clinical or management qualification
- Working towards RCP Advanced Clinical Practice or Consultancy Frameworks
Experience
Essential
- Wealth of experience in clinical pharmacy within a hospital setting
- Staff leadership and management experience
- Experience of leading and contributing to relevant research, audit and service improvement projects
- Experience in mentorship and training of staff
Desirable
- Teaching experience in clinical and classroom setting
