Job summary

37.5 Hours per week

We require a motivated Clinical Support Workers to work within Ainderby Ward (Medical Ward); predominantly respiratory and infectious diseases, at the Friarage Hospital.

Successful candidate must have:

  • Numeracy and Literacy Level 2
  • Care certificate
  • Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalentto Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3;- Theoretical knowledge- Experience of a range of care and related procedures- clinical observations- knowledge of relevant legislation

South Tees Hospitals is the largest hospital trust in the Tees Valley with two acute hospitals and services in a number of community hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have experience of working in health or social care and have experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalation of changes or findings.

They will work within the multidisciplinary team delivering high quality care to patients admitted to the Unit.

We will require the successful candidate to work days, nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.

Essential

  • Experience of working in health or social care.
  • Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalation of changes or findings.
Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or Maths & English GCSE (English Language or English Literature) A-C/4-9 or Maths & English O Level/GCE A-C or Maths & English CSE Grade 1 or NARIC/ENIC which compares the qualification to UK GCSE (https://www.enic-naric.net/)
  • Care Certificate (if you don't hold this certificate, you would be expected to complete this during your first 6 months of employment)
  • Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3: o Theoretical knowledge o Experience of a range of care and related procedures o Clinical observations o Knowledge of relevant legislation

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication & active listening skills. Ability to adopt appropriate styles & methods of communication.
  • Timekeeping, planning & prioritisation skills.
  • Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records & other Trust systems.
  • Analytical and judgement skills to make decisions based on patient / service user interactions and observations and metrics.
  • Ability to demonstrate the importance of holistic person-centred care & related procedures.
