Main duties of the job

* Our Dorothy House Hospice at Home team are committed to providing compassionate and personalised care to support anyone in the community requiring End of Life care in their own home. * As a carer you will be expected to undertake all aspects of personal care (this can include washing/showering patients, managing bodily fluids including catheters and stomas and providing care after death) as well as provide emotional care and support to the patient and their family, treating them with respect, dignity and compassion at all times.

About us

Our carers are community based and will occasionally work at our Winsley Hospice. This means that you will be expected to travel anywhere within our geographical catchment area, so access to your own vehicle is essential. (You will be reimbursed for your mileage at our agreed rate.)

Band 3 | £25,760 - £27,476 per annum, pro rata + unsociable hour enhancements

Both Full Time & Part time opportunities available

WHERE WILL I BE WORKING?

Our carers are community based and will occasionally work at our Winsley Hospice. This means that you will be expected to travel anywhere within our geographical catchment area, so access to your own vehicle is essential. (You will be reimbursed for your mileage at our agreed rate.)

Where possible, we try to keep you working in your local area, however, this is not always possible so a degree of flexibility is sometimes needed. We provide care both across the day and overnight 365 days a year.

We are currently recruiting for Day Carers who can work shifts that cover our 07:00 - 22:00 care needs, including alternate weekends.

  • ABOUT THE ROLE AND WHAT TO EXPECT

    We are currently looking for Community Carer Workers to join our fantastic Hospice at Home team.

  • Our Dorothy House Hospice at Home team are committed to providing compassionate and personalised care to support anyone in the community requiring End of Life care in their own home.
  • As a Carer, you will provide compassionate, person-centred care, supporting patients with all aspects of personal care, as well as providing emotional support to them and their families. This will include supporting patients at the end of life and providing care after death, always ensuring dignity, respect and compassion.
  • At Dorothy House, you will complete our Tulip Standard, our specialist training programme designed to give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to provide high-quality palliative and end-of-life care. The training covers key areas including communication, symptom management, caring for people in the last days of life, bereavement and care after death. You will receive full training, practical support and ongoing guidance from our experienced team.
  • You will work as part of a multi professional team to deliver care to our high standard, working under the direct leadership and supervision of a Senior Care worker.

    ABOUT YOU

    No health or social care experience needed! Although any previous experience of working in care would be an advantage. We are happy to consider anyone from any background, so long as they can demonstrate empathy and compassion with the passion to learn and develop.

    Due to the nature of the role, you will need a full UK drivers licence with access to a vehicle. Please note that we are unable to provide sponsorship for this role. Candidates must be able to provide an existing proof of right to work in the UK.
