About the role
As a Community Care Worker with Smeaton Healthcare you will deliver domiciliary care through short visits to people living in their own homes across the community. Travelling between visits, you will provide the right support at the right time – helping people start their day, take their medication, enjoy a hot meal and settle safely at night – so they can continue living independently at home.

Key responsibilities
• Carry out scheduled care visits in the community, arriving on time and completing all planned care tasks within each visit.
• Provide personal care including washing, dressing, grooming and continence support, always respecting dignity and privacy.
• Prompt, assist with or administer medication in line with the care plan, your training and company policy.
• Prepare meals, snacks and drinks and support with eating and drinking where needed.
• Support with morning, lunchtime, teatime and evening routines, including getting up and going to bed safely.
• Travel efficiently between visits on your care run, following your rota and notifying the office of any delays.
• Record clear, accurate care notes at every visit and report any concerns or changes promptly.
• Respond professionally to changing situations, following company procedures for emergencies and missed-visit prevention.
• Work closely with the office team, families and healthcare professionals to keep care consistent and safe.
• Follow all Smeaton Healthcare policies, including safeguarding, lone working, infection prevention and control, and confidentiality.

About you
• Caring, dependable and well organised, comfortable managing your own visit schedule.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (or a reliable means of travelling between community visits).
• Good communication and record-keeping skills.
• Willing to complete the Care Certificate and all mandatory training (experience welcome but not essential – full training provided).
• Able to work flexibly on a rota, including some evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

• Qualifications & Training: Willing to achieve the Care Certificate within the induction period (CQC expectation for staff new to care); willing to complete all mandatory training (moving & handling, safeguarding, medication, infection control, basic life support, food hygiene).
• Experience: None required – full training given.
• Knowledge: Understanding of confidentiality; willingness to learn about safeguarding, mental capacity and person-centred care.
• Skills & Abilities: Good spoken and written English for care records and handovers; able to follow care plans and risk assessments; able to work alone and as part of a team; competent using a smartphone app for care notes (training given).
• Other Requirements: Enhanced DBS check; right to work in the UK; flexibility across morning, lunchtime, teatime and evening visit runs, including alternate weekends; full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (or reliable means of travelling between community visits); business-use insurance where driving.
