Bristol NHS Foundation Trust are delighted to have the opportunity to be able to appoint a Substantive consultant to join our well established multi-disciplinary diabetes & endocrinology team. This is a Part-time (7PA) post and will offer exposure to specialist secondary and tertiary diabetes and endocrine services in our dynamic and thriving teaching hospital. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary but will also deliver 1 day at Weston General Hospital per week.
Applicants must hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or have evidence of being within twelve months of award of CCT or equivalent by the date of interview. Qualifications & Training
Essential
- Full and specialist GMC registration in Diabetes and Endocrinology or
- Within 12 months of obtaining expected CCT date at time of interview
Desirable
- Higher academic qualification e.g. MSc, MD, PhD or equivalent.
Experience
Essential
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in Diabetes and Endocrinology.
- Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision.
Desirable
- Evidence of a special interest and expertise in parathyroid, calcium and metabolic bone disorders.
Clinical Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Up to date knowledge and experience of relevant specialty.
- Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to specialty
- Skills in management of, parathyroid, calcium and metabolic bone disease
Desirable
- Broad range of IT skills.
Clinical Governance and Audit
Essential
- Understanding of clinical governance and the individual governance responsibilities.
- Knowledge of the principles of clinical audit and evidence of participation.
- Positive approach to evidence-based practice
- Evidence of recent and regular engagement with continuing professional development (CPD).
Research
Essential
- Knowledge of the principles involved in research
- Evidence of involvement in research.
Desirable
- Additional academic experience and qualifications e.g. MSc, MD, PhD.
