Director of Vocational (DT and ICT)

Turves Green Boys’ School, Northfield, B31 4BS

Salary: MPS (UPS where relevant) + TLR 2A (£8,913)

Start Date: January 2027

No teacher doubts the power of their subject to change lives, but we need someone who wants to have an impact beyond their own classroom and lead a team of passionate professionals to get the best for every pupil. 

We need an enthusiastic and dynamic practitioner to lead our Vocational Department to ensure all pupils receive the best possible experience of these fascinating subjects. The successful candidate will be an experienced and highly effective teacher of Design & Technology, with a track record of excellence in the classroom and evidence of facilitating exceptional pupil outcomes. 

Applicants will be able to lead the faculty and teach across all key stages.

Applications are welcome from experienced leaders and well-qualified ambitious teachers with leadership skills looking to take their next step in professional development. 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has Qualified Teacher Status;
  • Has a track record of strong pupil outcomes;
  • Has the ability to lead and manage a team so everyone performs to their best, taking decisive action when underperformance dips;
  • Is committed to reflecting on their own practice and that of colleagues within the department, identifying opportunities to continually strengthen and improve teaching and learning;
  • Collaborates with leaders across their school and other Trust schools.
