Facilities Manager
Location: Multi-site role across a portfolio of schools
About the Role
Dalkia UK is looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to lead technical facilities management, statutory compliance and estates assurance across a multi-site education contract. Reporting to the Contract Manager, you'll ensure buildings, assets and maintenance services are safe, compliant and reliable.
Working closely with the Senior Facilities Manager, you'll turn compliance findings, estate condition information and technical risks into practical maintenance priorities, lifecycle plans and improvement programmes. This highly mobile role requires a visible presence across the estate, combining hands-on technical oversight with informed planning and clear client advice.
You'll be supporting schools through the delivery of safe, compliant and well-maintained learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the statutory compliance programme, ensuring inspections, maintenance and remedial actions are planned, completed and supported by accurate, auditable evidence.
- Assess estate condition, asset performance and technical risks, developing prioritised maintenance, lifecycle and investment recommendations.
- Oversee planned, reactive and remedial maintenance, setting clear standards for engineers and contractors and verifying the safety, quality and completion of work.
- Lead technical audits, risk reviews and incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are progressed and significant concerns are escalated.
- Build trusted relationships with client and school stakeholders, providing clear estates advice, defining works requirements and supporting procurement, quotations and delivery.
- Use CAFM and performance data to maintain reliable assurance reporting, identify improvements and develop team capability through technical guidance and mentoring.
What We're Looking For
- Substantial experience managing a complex or multi-site facilities, estates, property or asset portfolio, with strong knowledge of hard FM, building services and statutory compliance.
- Proven experience leading compliance assurance, technical audits, risk management and remedial programmes, including interpreting technical reports and developing maintenance, lifecycle or investment plans.
- Experience leading and developing teams and managing contractors, with confident stakeholder communication and the ability to advise, influence and constructively challenge.
- Commercial awareness covering budgets, procurement, quotations and works delivery, alongside competence using CAFM, compliance, asset-management and reporting systems.
- A recognised health and safety qualification, such as a NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma or equivalent; IOSH membership or a relevant IOSH qualification; and a full UK driving licence with the ability to travel regularly across the estate.
Experience within education or public-sector estates, IWFM qualifications or membership, chartered or certified IOSH status, and relevant technical, engineering or property qualifications would further support your application.
Why Join Us?
You'll play a key role in shaping safe, reliable school estates, helping clients make informed decisions about compliance, maintenance and future investment. With scope to share your expertise, develop colleagues and improve service standards, you'll have opportunities to make a lasting contribution to the contract and grow your career within Dalkia UK.
