Smile Education are recruiting for a qualified Food Technology Teacher to work within a secondary school in Oldham.
The school are looking for a confident Food Preparation and Nutrition specialist who can deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons across KS3 and KS4.
The Role
As a Food Technology Teacher, you will teach Food Preparation and Nutrition across KS3 and KS4 as part of the wider Design & Technology curriculum.
You will plan and deliver practical lessons, develop pupils’ understanding of nutrition, food preparation and safe working practices, and support students towards strong outcomes at GCSE.

The Role
As a Food Technology Teacher, you will teach Food Preparation and Nutrition across KS3 and KS4 as part of the wider Design & Technology curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Food Preparation and Nutrition across KS3 and KS4.
- Plan engaging practical and theory-based lessons.
- Support pupils with GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition.
- Develop practical cooking skills, nutritional knowledge and independent learning.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health and safety.
- Manage behaviour confidently during practical and classroom-based lessons.
- Assess pupil progress and provide feedback where required.
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils of varying abilities, including SEND.
- Contribute positively to the wider Design & Technology department.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and school expectations.
- QTS is essential.
- Applicants without QTS will not be considered.
- Experience teaching Food Technology, Food Preparation and Nutrition or a closely related subject within a UK secondary school is required.
- Strong knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 Food curriculum is essential.
- Experience preparing pupils for GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition is highly desirable.
- You must be confident managing practical lessons safely and effectively.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills are essential.
- ECTs and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply.
- You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
- You must have the full right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available.
- £170–£235 per day, dependent on experience and responsibilities.
- Long-term role within a secondary school in Oldham.
- ASAP start available.
