Job summary
To take a lead role in the dietetic assessment and treatment of intestinal failure patients.To undertake a complex clinical caseload to a high professional standard using specialist knowledgefrom evidence based practice.To work with other Highly specialist dietitians to develop and evaluate the dietetic service to patientswithin this clinical areaTo work with other health professionals e.g. GP's, doctors, nurses, district nurses, physiotherapists,occupational therapists, pharmacists and speech and language therapists to provide optimalnutritional care
Main duties of the job
To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and to organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
To provide specialist IF dietetic support in IF clinic. Plan, coordination and evaluation of the dietetic service provided to patients in a designated area.
To attend ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings as appropriate to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care.
Decide priorities for own work area, balancing other patient related and professional demands, and ensure that these remain in accordance with specialty.
To ensure the safe and timely discharge of patients on nutrition support and liaise with appropriate internal and external agencies.
Attend staff meetings and participate in discussions concerning the running of the nutrition and dietetic service.
Participate in the planning and achievement of dietetic department objectives.

Qualifications
Essential
- BSc. or MSc. in Nutrition and Dietetics Or BSc. in relevant science followed by Post Graduate Diploma or State Registration in Dietetics
Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential
- Knowledge and experience of working clinical in the field of dietetics. Knowledge of nutritional needs and nutritional assessment in a range of clinical conditions
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

- Working knowledge of a range of clinical conditions and current best practice for dietetic management

- Good presentation skills
