Job summary

Are you a Pharmacist with experience in ophthalmology, high-cost drug management and service development who's seeking a new challenge? We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pharmacist to be the Lead Clinical Pharmacist in Ophthalmology.

The post holder will be leading, developing and delivering a pharmacy service to Ophthalmology in conjunction with the Ophthalmology business unit. This role will include a significant role in delivering savings across Lincolnshire by implementing the use of biosimilar or generic products, releasing key savings back into the NHS.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Pharmacist to be responsible for leading, developing and delivering a pharmacy service to Ophthalmology to ensure the service can meet the demands and will include supporting clinics.

You will be responsible for providing expert medicines management information to decision makers, senior managers and advising clinicians on prescribing protocols.

You will be responsible for leading research, innovative Pharmacy projects and audits relevant to Ophthalmology and ensuring healthcare professionals are trained appropriately to ensure safe medicines management within the specialty and Pharmacy.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Qualifications

Essential

  • Masters degree (or equivalent) in pharmacy
  • Pharmacist registered with the GPhC
  • Evidence of post registration commitment to continuing professional development
  • Diploma/Msc in Clinical Pharmacy
  • Independent Prescriber

  • Evidence of ability to interpret and convert national policy into successful operational policies
  • Involvement in serious untoward incident investigations and investigations linked to healthcare complaints
  • Involvement in Trust medicines-related committees e.g. Drugs and Therapeutics committee
