Our core values of Respect, Ownership and Integrity help create an environment that supports a passion for teaching and learning. These values guide our work as we enrich our community through knowledge, experience and skills so every student can achieve their best.

As one of the country’s largest providers of quality education and training, City College Plymouth is entering a period of transition to enable us to propel education into the future. The Role

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Bricklayer to join our Construction team as a Bricklaying Lecturer. You will bring current trade knowledge and practical experience into the workshop and classroom, helping learners develop the skills, knowledge and professional behaviours they need to progress into the construction industry. You will plan and deliver practical and theory sessions, assess learner progress, provide clear feedback and maintain high standards of health and safety. You will also support attendance, progress and behaviour, contribute to curriculum development and work with colleagues and employers to ensure our provision remains relevant to industry.A recognised Level 3 bricklaying trade qualification, or equivalent occupational competence, and substantial recent industry experience are essential. A teaching qualification is desirable rather than essential, so this is also an opportunity for an experienced tradesperson who wants to bring their skills into education. Experience of teaching, training or assessing apprentices or learners would also be an advantage.

What Will You Bring to the Role

  • Adapting -You can adapt confidently to changing situations, balancing practical teaching, assessment, learner support and the day-to-day demands of a busy construction area.
  • Collaborating - You work well with others and can build positive relationships with learners, colleagues and employers, while maintaining clear professional expectations.
    • Focused - You remain focused and attentive in practical environments, making appropriate decisions and keeping health, safety and quality at the centre of your work.
    • Problem Solving - You are a practical problem-solver who can use your industry knowledge to find solutions, explain technical skills clearly and help learners overcome challenges.
