Job summary

This is the first advert for this 1-year locum consultant post, with a view to this becoming a substantive job in the near future. We are an established team of 4 consultants who work alongside specialist nurses and physiotherapists, clinical fellow with the only RCS-certified Paediatric Orthopaedic fellowship in the country, deanery and CESR trainees, and a nationally-renowned Gait Lab.

The service provides an elective Paediatric Orthopaedic service to the Oxford region, working closely with a multidisciplinary team, and developing the service further to support colleagues in regional hospitals across Thames Valley. We are looking for a colleague who can help us towards building this service further.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high quality secondary and tertiary paediatric orthopaedic service to the children and adolescents of Oxfordshire and Thames Valley, and neighbouring counties.

To support the multidisciplinary team, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings

To support and continue to develop clinical collaboration with other paediatric services in Oxford and Buckinghamshire, especially where this may impact on paediatric orthopaedic provision.

To develop further paediatric training in orthopaedics with support of Locally and Nationally appointed trainees and provide orthopaedic teaching for other undergraduate and postgraduate trainees

To comply with the recommendations of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, National GIRFT ('Getting it Right First Time') review of Paediatric Orthopaedics, and the Royal College of Surgeons for the provision of acute and specialty services for children.
