Assist in providing an evidence-based specialist moving and handling service across the Trust. The post holder must develop and maintain their own expertise relating to moving and handling.

The role provides specialist skills and knowledge in moving and handling and back care awareness and assists in the promotion of safer handling and postural practices to minimise work related ill health.

Main duties of the job

Assist in the delivery of a Trust wide, specialised moving and handling education and training programme that minimises risk for staff and patients. Review and monitor the trust's training content and deliver the programme in a variety of formats appropriate to staff need.

Provide advice in the use of moving and handling equipment both in training venues and work areas.

Job responsibilities

Assist in the delivery of a Trust wide specialised moving and handling education and training programme that minimises risk for staff and patients.

The programme will encompass core health and safety requirements and will align to national statutory and mandatory programmes. Training will be delivered in ward and community settings to various professions and grades of staff.

Qualifications and Trainig

Essential

  • Appropriate standard of general education.
  • Current health or social care profession qualification.

Desirable

  • Teaching/assessing/training qualification
Experience

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate continued personal development throughout career
  • Experience working in health and/or social care.
  • Experience of manual handling training delivery.
Skills Knowledge and Abilities

Essential

  • Knowledge of manual handling theory, procedure and equipment
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and risk reduction process
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to address complex and sensitive issues in and appropriate manner.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • IT skills i.e. Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to build good relationships with service providers/ community teams
  • Professional manner
  • Ability to be adaptable to service needs and work in a team
  • Ability to work alone
  • Appropriate level of physical ability to undertake M&H training and assessment

  • Knowledge of audit process.
