Job summary
The post holder will undertake the Healthcare Engineering Specialist Technician Level 3 apprenticeship standard. You will be released for study to attend college,train and learn on site, and also complete specialist training courses to then be fully qualified at the end of the 4 year apprenticeship.
To follow instructions, training, guidance to achieve applicants' Apprenticeship Standard with the timeframe agreed and work with the Employers statutory requirements.
Main duties of the job
Most apprenticeship programmes in the UK are government-funded. To qualify for this funding, you must have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years before starting the apprenticeship. This means living in the UK for most of the past three years without significant absences. Please note this post will close at sufficient applicants.
1. Carry out, under supervision, the following aspects, in order to meet training requirements for the HEST Apprenticeship Standard:
- o Diagnose, fault find, and repair faults on a wide range of plant, equipment and services
- o Manufacture, assemble, erect, install and test new work including minor improvements ensuring compliance with Trust and Apprentice safety standards and procedures
- o Carry out planned preventative maintenance to statutory requirements
- o Carry out statutory inspections and testing of plant, equipment and services to ensure their safe operation and meet current standards
- o Use all relevant tools and equipment as necessary and correctly
- o Plan and evaluate and order materials for the necessary job requisitions
- o Communicate with others on aspects of their work, including any problems encountered
- o Make arrangements to attend wards / departments for access or availability of room / area / equipment to carry out work as requested
- o Participate in systems of work and complete all necessary paperwork to Statutory and Trust requirements

Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum Grade B / 5 GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics
- Minimum Grade C / 4 GCSE or equivalent in 4 other subjects to include English and a science-based subject
Knowledge
Essential
- An aptitude and interest in the practical and theoretical study of engineering
Desirable
- Have an understanding of relevant health and safety issues
Experience
