Job summary
We are looking to recruit an established Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work at Lincoln County Hospital. We are seeking a motivated, proactive individual to join our team. If you have a special interest in working with patients impacted by surgery, respiratory or cardiac conditions. Then this is the post for you
The successful applicants will be required to independently manage a defined caseload with indirect supervision from a Senior Occupational Therapist. They will support patients to achieve their individual goals enabling them to gain and/or maintain independence in their chosen occupational performance activities. They will be someone who is committed to meeting best practice standards and providing person-centred care.
Working with local Universities we offer ongoing student placement experiences for apprenticeships, undergraduate and masters programme student
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be required to support patients to achieve their individual goals enabling them to gain and/or maintain independence in their chosen occupational performance activities. Working as part of the Multidisciplinary Team the post holder will then assist patients in preparing for their discharge from the hospital setting into their identified place of discharge (e.g. home or community based rehabilitation settings) while taking into account their individual Occupational needs.
The department is a well-established team with Bands 2-8 working within inpatient, outpatient and closely with our Discharge to Assess and rehab partners in the community. There is plenty of opportunity to develop. The department offers an established in-service training programme, clinical supervision and support through preceptorship, performance development review & peer group support.

- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team

- Ability to work flexibly and proactively to meet the needs of varied clinical areas
- Change management and leadership skills
- Supervisory skills
- Able to meet requirements of preceptor profile
- A passion for working with older people

- Commitment to meeting best practice standards
- Commitment to providing person-centred care and occupation-focused practice
- Demonstrated ability to complete PDR objectives.
- Proficient in use of range of Moving and Handling aids. Able to assess, treat and educate in the use of equipment

- Ability to travel across county and between sites
- Teaching skills
Experience
Essential
- Relevent postgraduate experience within core specialities
- Evidence of participation within clinical governance
- Evidence of audit and service development
Desirable
- Membership of RCOT special interest group
- Experience of supervising staff and delegating caseloads
- Completion of preceptorship programme
Qualifications
Essential
- HCPC Registration
- Dip.COT / BSc OT / MSc OT
- Willingness to complete postgraduate study relating to the clinical area
Desirable
- RCOT Member
- Proficient in use of Microsoft teams, Excel, Outlook
- Practice Education certificate /L' APPLE Post registration study relevant to complex case management with older adults and surgery.
