Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join our well established Older Adult Community Mental Health team on the Fylde Coast.

This post is offered as a Band 5-6 developmental role and is open to all applicants who hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and are HCPC registered. This is a developmental post designed to support the successful applicant to progress from Band 5 to Band 6 by developing the clinical expertise, leadership skills and professional competencies associated with a Band 6 Occupational Therapist over an agreed period of time.

Progression will be supported through structured supervision, mentorship, appraisal, competency development and access to continuing professional development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

At Band 5, the post holder will work under the supervision of a senior occupational therapist to develop skills in assessment, intervention planning, risk management and multi-disciplinary working within Older Adult Community Mental Health services.

As competencies are achieved, the post holder will progressively take on increased responsibility, autonomy and leadership functions consistent with Band 6 practice.

The post holder supports the delivery of the community services through the provision of the assessment treatment, planning and delivery of evidence based occupational therapy interventions.

Having experience, specialist interest, and expertise in mental health occupational therapy, the post holder will use their deep understanding of the relationship between occupation and mental health to provide occupational therapy in order to maintain, restore or create a match beneficial to the individual between the abilities of the person, the demands of her/his occupations in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure and the demands of the environment.
