Job summary

To support with the Patient Pathway Manager and Directorate Senior Management Team (Clinical Director, Directorate Manager) in the efficient and effective operational management of the Paediatric GP Liaison MDT Service.

The MDT coordinator will provide non-clinical administrative and organisational support and expert knowledge to facilitate the MDT service. The MDT coordinator will work closely with the lead consultant, GP PCN's and CAHMs to implement a roll-out of this service across Berkshire West.

The post holder assists with the delivery of daily operational business of the designated service area as well as contributing to the development and implementation of strategic plans.

The MDT coordinator will oversee administrative and clerical processes to enable a high quality, effective, patient focused service to be delivered. The post holder will ensure that standard operating procedures are followed, to help ensure the achievement of all performance targets. In the absence of the Patient Pathway Manager, the MDT coordinator will be responsible for providing regular updates on performance and escalation of issues which hinder the smooth delivery of the MDT's to the Directorate Manager.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated, organised and enthusiastic individual to join the Paediatric department as a MDT Coordinator.

This role will support the development and rollout of the Paediatic MDT Service across 17 Berkshire West PCN's. The post holder will develop and oversee the MDT's, working closley with the Lead Consultant. They will complete all administrative activities relating to the MDT's and will provide reassurance to the Directorate team utilising all available data.

Job responsibilities

  1. To be the administrative first point of contact for all PCNs involved in the Paediatric GP Liaison MDTs, ensuring that all matters are handled in a manner that enhances the reputation of the Trust.
  2. To provide administrative support to the Paediatric Clinical Lead for the Paediatric GP Liaison MDTs.
  3. To manage consultants diaries, making decisions on when MDTs will be held.
  4. Develop a network of key relationships both within and outside of the Trust in order to facilitate the service.
  5. Lead and coordinate specialist MDT meetings.
  6. Co-chair the MDT meetings alongside the clinical leads and consultants.
  7. Ensure all referrals are received prior to the MDT meetings and that all relevant parties are invited to the MDTs as required for the patient caseload of each MDT.
  8. Coordinate with BHFT to ensure CAHMs involvement
  9. Audit impact of MDTs, and identify areas for improvement.
  10. Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to by all involved in the MDTs referral process.

Person specification

Education/qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to alevel or nvq level 4 in business administration/ customer care/ equivalent experience
  • GCSE or equivalent english and maths grades a-c

Desirable

  • educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Management qualification or business qualification or equivalent experience
Experience

Essential

  • oSubstantial and appropriate experience of working in a busy administrative environment.
  • oExperience of delivering continuous improvement
  • oSome understanding of Primary care, GP and community services
  • oSupervisory experience of administrative staff
  • oKnowledge of CAT patient pathways
  • oExperience of using full range of IT/patient data systems

Desirable

  • oUnderstanding of patient priorities and performance targets
  • oThorough knowledge of healthcare administrative systems and processes
  • oExperience of implementing change
Skills

Essential

  • oAccurate entry and retrieval of information on database systems
  • oAdvanced use of EPR with the ability to interrogate the system
