Smile Education are currently recruiting for a Performing Arts Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in the Telford area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher or ECT with a passion for Drama, Performing Arts and creative education. The school has high expectations for both staff and students, creating a positive environment where young people are encouraged to develop confidence, creativity and the skills needed to achieve their potential.
The successful candidate will teach Performing Arts across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 where appropriate. You’ll join a supportive department that values engaging lessons, practical learning and giving students opportunities to develop their performance skills.
Alongside classroom teaching, the school offers a range of enrichment activities and extracurricular opportunities, allowing students to develop their interests and confidence beyond the classroom.
The Role
  • Plan and deliver engaging Performing Arts lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Teach Drama and Performing Arts, with the opportunity to teach KS5 where appropriate.
  • Deliver a mixture of practical and theory-based lessons.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and creative classroom environment.
  • Support students in developing confidence, creativity and communication skills.
  • Differentiate lessons to support students with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support extracurricular activities, performances and enrichment opportunities where required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student progress.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attendance and learning.
We're Looking For
  • A qualified Performing Arts, Drama or related teacher, or an ECT.
  • Experience teaching Performing Arts or Drama within a UK secondary school.
  • Strong knowledge of the secondary Performing Arts/Drama curriculum.
  • Experience teaching GCSE Drama or Performing Arts is desirable.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A creative, enthusiastic and engaging approach to teaching.
  • A flexible and reliable approach.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people develop their confidence and creativity.
