Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cancer Services team at Whittington Health and play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering personalised cancer care, improving the experience, outcomes and quality of life of people living with and beyond cancer across both hospital and community settings.The post holder will oversee the development, delivery and evaluation of PCC interventions, including Holistic Needs Assessments (HNAs), Personalised Care and Support Plans (PCSPs), End of Treatment Summaries (EOTS), Personalised Stratified Follow-Up (PSFU) pathways and Health and Wellbeing initiatives.
Operating within a project management framework, the post holder will lead service improvement initiatives. They will be responsible for improving PCC data quality and reporting, including submissions to COSD and North Central London Cancer Alliance performance dashboards.
The role will provide leadership and influence across the cancer workforce, supporting clinical teams to embed personalised care principles into routine practice.
The post holder will represent Whittington Health within local partnership programmes and contribute to wider neighbourhood health priorities.

Main duties
Scope and map the current cancer workforce's ability to deliver personalised cancer care. Identify gaps within service provision and education needs of the team take responsibility for the upskilling and education of the team to enable the integrated delivery of personalised cancer care.
Engage and motivate colleagues aligned to the project to deliver its aims and objectives.
Work with the Trust to create and improve timely referral routes across pathways.
Where applicable, lead new or support existing projects to improve access to cancer rehabilitation, prehabilitation, physical activity and psychosocial support with the aim of improving experience and quality of life for people living with and beyond cancer.
Support expansion and improvement of personalised (stratified) follow-up including patient-initiated follow-up.
Represent the trust and its patients in neighbourhood health projects affecting personalised cancer care, ensuring the voice of the local people living with and beyond cancer is represented.
Lead projects supporting personalised cancer care involving local communities with an aim of reducing inequalities, improving patient experience and enhancing quality of life.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Experience of delivering complex whole system change projects
- Knowledge of the public sector and health service
- Experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment
- Experience of planning and coordinating projects in a complex and challenging environment
- Understanding of recent policy initiatives and developments in cancer care
- Understanding of the neighbourhood health agenda and community health initiatives
Desirable
- Insights and experience of commissioning processes
- Management of complex HR cases; capability, long term sickness
Education and qualifications
Essential
- Post graduate degree in either healthcare or project management or leadership/management
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- In depth knowledge of health care systems and the delivery of cancer services
Desirable
- Advanced communication skills or equivalent
- PRINCE 2 or other project management qualification
- Cancer care course
Skills and abilities
Essential
- Ability to plan over short medium- and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly
- Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to a broad rand of stakeholders as required
- Demonstrated capabilities to manage own workload and make informed decisions in the absence of required information, working to tight and often changing timescales
