Job summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Post-CCT Fellow in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology to join our specialist dermatology service. This fellowship provides advanced training in Mohs micrographic surgery, complex skin cancer management, and cutaneous oncology within a multidisciplinary setting.

The successful candidate will gain extensive experience in the diagnosis, surgical treatment, reconstruction, and ongoing management of patients with keratinocyte cancers and other complex cutaneous malignancies. Working alongside experienced Mohs surgeons and multidisciplinary teams, the fellow will contribute to high-quality patient care while developing specialist surgical, clinical, and leadership skills.

This post is ideally suited to a dermatologist who has recently obtained CCT (or is within six months of obtaining CCT) and wishes to pursue a career with a specialist interest in Mohs surgery, skin cancer, and cutaneous oncology. Opportunities for teaching, audit, quality improvement, and research are also available throughout the fellowship.

Main duties of the job

1. To assist the current team and have responsibility for ensuring a commitment to provide a high quality of Dermatology Services to patients by continual development of practice in the light of evidence-base, and clinical standards.

2. To partake in Skin Cancer MDT.

3. To provide advice to colleagues in other specialities on Dermatology care.

4. To provide a comprehensive Outpatient service, and support the Mohs surgery service

5. To provide clinical support and teaching to resident and speciality doctors, Medical Students and Postgraduate Medical Education.

6. To support and encourage audit and research.

7. To have responsibility for ensuring a commitment to maintaining a high quality of service to patients.

8. To actively participate in CPD and personal development plans.

Job responsibilities

Job plan is for a 40 hour per week post aiming to complete an accredited fellowship with sign off and certification from the BAD at the end of the year (as approved by Mohs standards committee). The fellow will be working closely and under the supervision of 4 BAD/BSDS Accredited Mohs Surgeons Dr Aaron Wernham, Dr Richard Jerrom, Dr D Veitch, and Dr L Brindley and Ms Maria Athanasiadou to ensure a breadth of experience and approaches to Mohs / Complex Reconstructions throughout the year. There may also be an opportunity for laser experience whilst at St Michaels.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full MRCP (or equivalent)
  • CCT in Dermatology (Proposed CCT date must be by time of commencement of post
  • European Community Rights or CESR
Registration

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration with Lisence to Practice
Training and Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of Higher Specialist Training in Dermatology (or be within 6 months of confirmed entry upon date of interview)
  • A wide experience in Dermatology
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
  • Ability to offer expert clinical advice on range of problems
  • Demonstrate commitment and interest in skin surgery and reconstruction / Mohs during training or beyond training

Desirable

  • Experience of undertaking flaps / skin graft reconstruction
Clinical Effectiveness

Essential

  • Experience of conducting clinical audit
  • Ability to use the evidence base and clinical audit to support decision-making

Desirable

  • Evidence of research experience and published work
