Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking practice manager to join our friendly and supportive team at Greenhead Family Doctors.

We are looking for an organised, proactive, and empathetic Practice Manager to lead our day-to-day operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with our two dedicated, enthusiastic GP partners to lead the day-to-day management and future development of the practice. We value the relationship with our patients and take pride in the endeavour to deliver a high standard of care.

Main duties of the job

Promote a positive, supportive and professional working environment, ensuring the Practice continues to develop and provide high quality services to patients

Working closely with partners, provide leadership and management of staff and business

Responsible for all aspects of staff management

Ensure the Practice meets its GMS contractual, NHS, CQC, governance, health and safety and regulatory requirements

Oversee patient services, including complaints, the PPG and the development and implementation of Practice policies and procedures

Oversee Practice premises and estates management, including maintenance, rent reviews, leases and premises reimbursement claims

Job responsibilities

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide strong leadership and oversee the day-to-day management of the practice, ensuring efficient service delivery, high-quality patient care and compliance with NHS, CQC and relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Leading and supporting clinical and administrative teams, including recruitment, workforce planning, appraisals and staff development.
  2. Managing practice payroll and invoices.
  3. Ensuring compliance with NHS requirements, CQC standards, HR, health and safety and information governance.
  4. Leading quality improvement, change management and business continuity initiatives.
  5. Working closely with the PCN, partners and ARRS staff to support effective service delivery.
  6. Managing premises, IT systems, policies, complaints, patient communications and the Patient Participation Group.
  7. Supporting achievement of QOF and other NHS contractual targets.

Person specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience managing budgets, accounting and cash-flow forecasting.
  • Experience working within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in staff performance management, including appraisals, development and disciplinary procedures.
  • Experience in workforce planning, forecasting and staff development

Desirable

  • Proven experience in operational management, leadership, or business administration (GP practice or NHS experience is a strong advantage).
  • A friendly, approachable, and resilient management style.
  • Strong financial awareness and experience managing budgets.
  • Excellent IT skills and the ability to adapt to healthcare systems (e.g., EMIS Web, SystmOne).
  • A calm under pressure approach with excellent problem-solving skills
