Job summary
West View Surgery are looking for a confident experienced part time receptionist to join our friendly team.
Previous experience of working in a General Practice is preferred but not essential as full training will be given.
This is a very busy and varied role, applicants must be able to multi-task, have a professional telephone manner and excellent computer skills.

Please note our reception shifts are 7.45am-1pm, and 1pm-6.30pm. The shift pattern for this role is currently 3 shifts per week, these will be on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Main duties of the job
Be able to offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff
Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies

Job responsibilities
- Opening up/locking-up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols
- Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
- Taking messages and passing on information ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery
- Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
- Filing, Scanning and retrieving paperwork
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers
- processing referrals to third parties/ secondary care

Qualifications
Essential
- Good general education
- 3 GCSE or equivalent
- Computer Literate
- Good organisational skills
- Good presentation
- Able to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent people skills
- Team player
- Able to work on own initiative
- Flexible approach to work
- Reliable
- Able to multi task in a busy environment
Desirable
- Previous Practice Experience
- Experience of Microsoft Office, including email
