Pink Tile Education are looking for an enthusiastic and resilient Secondary Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist SEMH/SEND school supporting boys aged 5–18. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in SEND, SEMH, mental health or challenging behaviour who wants to develop their skills within a highly supportive specialist environment. The Role You will work within the secondary school, supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. Your role will include: Supporting pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needs Providing 1:1 and small-group support Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, trauma and other additional needs Helping pupils access their learning Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour Implementing individual strategies and support plans Managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently Building positive relationships with young people Encouraging confidence, independence and engagement Working closely with teachers and the wider support team Supporting pupils across lessons and activities throughout the school day About You We are looking for someone who has: Previous experience working with SEND, SEMH, mental health or challenging behaviour Strong behaviour-management skills A calm, patient and resilient approach The ability to build trusting relationships with young people Confidence working with pupils who may become dysregulated A genuine interest in helping young people overcome barriers to education A flexible, positive and hands-on approach The ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team Experience as a Teaching Assistant, LSA, SEN TA, support worker, youth worker, behaviour mentor or residential worker would be particularly relevant. An Excellent Permanent Opportunity One of the particularly attractive aspects of this role is the school’s approach to permanent salaries. The school does not pro-rata its permanent salaries. This means that when you move into a permanent position, you receive the full salary offered by the school, rather than a reduced pro-rata amount. The permanent salary for this type of role is around £27,000, making this a particularly attractive opportunity for someone looking for a long-term career within specialist education. You can initially work through Pink Tile Education and, if it proves to be the right fit for both you and the school, have the opportunity to move into a permanent position with the school on the full advertised salary. Important – Driver Required You must be a driver for this position. The school is situated in a rural location between Horsham and Billingshurst, so public transport is limited. You will need your own transport to access the school reliably. The School This is a specialist school for boys aged 5–18, providing both day and residential education. The school supports pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needs, including autism, ADHD, trauma and challenging behaviour. The school is set within a large rural site with extensive outdoor and sporting facilities, providing pupils with opportunities to develop socially, emotionally and academically. The staff team is experienced in supporting young people with complex needs, and the school places a strong emphasis on relationships, consistency and helping pupils develop confidence and independence.
