An new opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Fellow within the department of Anaesthesia. We are seeking an experienced anaesthetist who is highly motivated and a strong desire to work with excellence.

Our department has a diverse blend of 25 consultants with a wealth of experience that lends itself to providing first class care and a unique training experience. We pride ourselves on being a very approachable, flexible and proactive.

Main duties of the job

You will contribute to regular day time activity across specialties and to resident on call duties.

Duties and opportunities are dependant on experience

Resident on-call duties are on a 1:8 rota with prospective cover and will cover either general or obstetric anaesthesia services, or ICU. These hours are 08:00-18:00, 08:00-20:30 and 20:00-08:30. There are three tiers of resident anaesthetic and intensive care cover within the hospital who work as a team to provide out of hour cover with non-resident consultant support.

Elective activity may include supervised/mentored elective lists and/or Obstetrics /ICU.

You will be an active member of the hospital medical emergencies team.

You will undertake intra- and inter-hospital critical care transfers.

It is expected that you will engage with clinical governance by taking part in regular departmental meetings, and proactively undertaking audit and quality improvement projects.

It is expected that you will familiarise yourself with and adhere to the Trust's policies on Clinical Governance, Confidentiality and Infection Control.

Person specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • MBChB or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration and Licence to practice

Desirable

  • Primary FRCA / Full FRCA (or equivalent)
Training

Essential

  • 18 months anaesthesia experience
  • Evidence of Initial Assessment of Competence / Theatre on calls
  • ALS

Desirable

  • 36 months anaesthesia (may include ICU)
  • 6 months paid NHS anaesthesia experience
  • Evidence of Initial Assessment of Competence in Obstetric Anaesthesia
  • Evidence of achievement of core competence in ICU
  • on call experience in Obstetric anaesthesia or ICU
  • Experience in non-anaesthesia specialty
  • ATLS/ EPALS /APLS provider
Experience and Knowledge
