Senior Data Protection & AI Governance Lawyer – Consultant | Fully Remote | Full Time / 3–4 Days | £90,000–£110,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience
Our client is a specialist legal consultancy focused on data protection, privacy and AI governance. The team brings years of in-house and advisory experience, providing specialist legal advice to technology companies, travel and tourism businesses, and organisations in the sporting industry.
The Role
This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced data protection and privacy professional who can work independently and deal confidently with clients.
The successful candidate will take on a range of client work, with the level of responsibility depending on their experience. The role may also involve supporting the development of a junior member of the team.
The position is open to either permanent employment or a consultancy arrangement. For a permanent position, the company is open to 3 or 4 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare DPIAs, LIAs and TIAs where required
- Draft and review Data Processing Agreements and other data protection contracts
- Prepare legal, compliance and governance documentation
- Advise on UK GDPR and international data protection requirements
- Support clients across a range of sectors and jurisdictions
- Manage client matters and deadlines
- Develop and maintain client relationships
- Support the development of a junior team member when required
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience, with 7+ years ideally
- Strong background in data protection and privacy law
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Able to work to a high standard without requiring work to be reviewed before going to the client
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Good time management
- Reliable, professional, approachable and kind
- Genuine team-player mentality
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Solicitor or barrister qualification preferred, although alternative relevant legal qualifications will be considered
- Experience in both in-house and private practice
- Experience advising international or multinational organisations
- Experience with US-based multinational clients
- AI governance experience
- Ambitious and keen to develop and progress with the business
