Job summary

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 6 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING.

We are seeking to appoint a team of site security officers to work alongside our well established portering team. These are newly created posts and the primary responsibility will be to fulfil firewarden and site security duties, alongside the daily portering duties required to maintain a high standard of service throughout the hospital.

There is 1 x 35 hour post available, and successful applicants will need to be able to work flexibly within a 24 hour period, although the rota is predominantly night shifts with 1 week of day shifts.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will;

  • conduct regular fire checks throughout the shift, addressing or escalating any issues as they arise.
  • perform site security checks, ensuring the building has been properly secured, and remains so overnight.
  • routine portering duties.

A driving licence to drive Health Board vehicles is essential for this role. Holding a category C1 licence is advantageous.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential

  • Experience of dealing with the general public

Desirable

  • Similar portering experience or some care experience.
  • Experience of handling difficult or violent persons
  • Training in similar portering duties.
Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate literacy, numeracy and comprehension skills.
  • Basic Health and Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling and Food Hygiene knowledge, or willingness to learn through on the job training

Desirable

  • Food Safety level 2 certificate.
  • Welcome host certificate
  • Health and Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling training.
Other

Essential

  • Able to work flexibly as required
  • Driving licence as required to drive Health Board vehicles

Desirable
