Support Worker – MacIntyre Charity

Make a real difference to someone's life every single day.

MacIntyre is looking for a compassionate, patient, and reliable Support Worker to join our team supporting Alex*, a wonderful individual with dedicated 4:1 staff support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to build a genuine, long-term relationship with the person they support and be part of a small, close-knit team that puts his wellbeing first.

About Alex

Alex lives independently but requires staff support at all times, including whenever he leaves the premises. He has:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • A Learning Disability
  • Dysphagia
  • Epilepsy

Full training and ongoing support will be provided to help you understand Alex's individual needs and how best to support him to live his best gloriously ordinary life.

The role also involves supporting Alex at times when he may experience distress or communicate his needs in ways that require additional support. A calm, patient and consistent approach is essential, alongside a willingness to understand what Alex may be communicating and support him in a way that promotes his wellbeing, dignity and independence.

What we're looking for

  • A full, valid UK driving licence with a minimum of 1 year's driving experience
  • Confidence and competence to drive a 9-seater vehicle
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach
  • A genuine interest in learning about ASD, learning disabilities, and positive behaviour support
  • Reliability and a strong sense of commitment, given the 24/7 support model

You must be a driver with a full UK Driving Licence.
